Formalities

Valid passport of at least 6 months. The visa is bought in the airport of Cairo, at arrival, it is not necessary to make the formalities in Europe. Please inquire official foreign offices to be sure.

Cleanliness

The places of bivouac are in general selected for the beauty of the site and we ask you to help us to keep them intact.

Nothing is to be left behind you: use the bags dustbins. We burn all that can be and bring the remainder.

We thus do not leave any waste on the spots.

No WC in the desert! Then thanks for burning your papers (from where need for a lighter).

The smokers can burn the cigarette ends in fire or carry them with them in a pocket ashtray

Animals

Big and small animals are rare.

It is about certain that you will not see scorpions or snakes except in very rare places and during the hot summer days only.

Your local guides have the practice and can choose the places of bivouac very well.

You will see only traces of insects or rodents on the sand in the morning. However, look at where you put the feet and the hands..

photos

choose rather films of 100 or 200 ASA.

Also think of protecting your apparatuses and objectives against sand.

gifts

small gifts are always appreciated by the Egyptians : clothing, shoes, medicines and other small equipment are appreciated.

So if you want to reduce your bags... do not hesitate.

luggage

principal luggage : a flexible bag, or a back pack because they are easy to charge in the vehicles or on the animals.

Hand luggage: a small back pack is essential to place all your personal things: water, camera, hat, etc.

shoes

For the excursions, take shoes which are already made with your feet. Use them before the departure if they are new (beware of the bulbs!). Choose shoes of the type "bush" or excursion of medium mountains, with thick but flexible soles and rising stems, in fabric or Gore-Tex. . Privilege cotton or wool for the socks, not synthetic fabrics. For the discoveries (4x4), a comfortable pair of tennis with a thick sole is sufficient.

Think of carrying another pair to relax during the bivouac, of type "jogging" or sandals.

At the bivouac, it is also very pleasant to go naked feet...

equipment

light clothes preferably out of cotton

don’t forget a hot sweater or a polar wool for the evenings

A sun hat ( scarf, cap, bob.... provided that it protects your head from the sun...

Knife (think of putting in the principal luggage out of compartment during your flight).

Although water is provided when you wish it, a gourd, minimum 1 liter is essential to have it "under the hand" constantly

a flashlight or frontal + bulb and spare batteries

Sunglasses

Sun lotion and labial. Careful with the neck and the arms

A towel

For the toilet is very useful (with the proviso of burning them or of putting them after use in waste to be carried).

Toilet paper and lighter for immediate incineration after use.

N.B: you will travel in regions of Islamic religion. Decent clothing makes it possible to avoid running up against the entourage and maintaining a mutual respect.

vaccines

No compulsory vaccination.

pharmacy

Your personal pharmacy is essential.

In case of medical treatment, don’t forget the sufficient quantity of product.

Add analgesics, eye lotion, protection for the lips and the skin, cream for the sunstrokes, freezing for the aches, stuff for wounds
