Experience the barren Great Sand Sea and enjoy the deserted salt lakes with the occasional migrating Pink Flamingos.

Drive along the Mediterranean Sea to Matrouh, then continue to Siwa. Tackle the sand dunes of the Great Sand Sea from its most difficult entrance (Siwa), then re-emerge on its fringes at the three salt lakes. Nawaymesa, Sitra and Bahrein are deserted oasis with big lakes, as well as traces of ancient human existence. Then you get a second chance to cross the Sand Sea climbing some of its highest dunes, and descending their magnificent slip faces, while heading towards Ain Dalla and the White Desert, where you will meet civilization in Farafra Oasis.
